This is a natural for a performance piece. Ask the child to bring their own music and costume and to do this piece for the class. It can be accompanied with a reading of their poem or their story.

The teacher may want to use a drum to stop the movement periodically and lend structure to the piece. This will greatly reduce self consciousness on the part of the participants.

There can be a very fruitful discussion after a few children do these for the class. How did they feel about it? What feelings did it bring up? Did they learn things about themselves that were new or put a new light on things they already knew?
